I have had norton 2006 installed and running but not updated for a long time. I dl'ed installed and ran the scan. Suddenly norton decided this file was a Downloader virus.
C:\docume~1\jim\locals~1\temp\clamav-a542ff792ea224a8e5c99bc6dac5bc72.00000fb8.clamtmp
The scan aborted and the list kept going only they apeared in red. Looked like this.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Incoming\AP10.clamtmp: Worm.Plexus.B FOUND
There were many in the list. I canceled the scan.
What do I do now?
I think I need to turn norton off when scanning. If this is true it might be a good idea to say that in the install process. But is the clamwin install busted now? Do I need to uninstall then reinstall? Please help!

ClamWin should be okay.
Some resident AVs work okay with ClamWin, but some of the more "touchy" ones think a ClamWin temporary file is a virus now and then. The temp files contain signatures that ClamWin uses when scanning, but they are not real viruses. It eventually "polices" them up, but another AV can kick in with a recognition before it can do so. It just means they both have that signature in their databases.
You may be able to exclude those *.clamtmp files from Norton's scans (both resident and manual)--I don't know. You might exclude ClamWin's Quarantine directory from Norton also. I exclude my AVs quarantine files from each other's scans.
It's probably a good idea to turn Norton off during ClamWin scans, but that limits you to manual ClamWin scans--no scheduled ones. Try the exclusion option(s) first.
