To be safe from viruses:
1. Use a real-time antivirus program (such as the free AntiVir from Avira , AVG from AVG or Avast from Alwil software). ClamWin is not a real-time scanner. It is an on-demand scanner, and it should only be used as a backup scanner.
2. Use a real-time antispyware program (such as the free Windows Defender from Microsoft).
3. Use a firewall (such as Microsoft's free Windows XP firewall that comes with Windows XP or the free Zone Alarm firewall.
4. Set up daily scans with your antivirus and antispyware programs.
5. Stay away from porn sites on the web.
6. Stay away from cracked software and crack sites on the web.
7. Don't click on links/downloads in email from people or companies you don't know.
8. Scan every file you download before you open/use it.
9. Buy only from large, well-known businesses on the web and make sure their pages have the "lock" sign before you buy.
These actions should help. Check the ClamWin antimalware site for more information.
