Have you confirmed that you have files that are infected by uploading them to Jotti or VirusTotal? If you have confirmed an infection, does ClamWin spot it? If it doesn't, then you need to upload the files to Clam and tell them about the infection(s) so they can prepare a signature for Clam/ClamWin, which you can use in a day or two.

If ClamWin can spot an infection, it can Quarantine/Remove it if you set General Preferences, Infected Files to do so.

If ClamWin can't do anything about an infection, I recommend you download Malware Byes Antimalware program or Dr. Web's Cureit program. Both are free and are quite good at spotting/removing infections. The free versions are not real-time scanners to be used full-time. They are only to be used to find/remove an infection.

Clam/ClamWin do a pretty good job at spotting something before it gets inside your computer--if you keep the signatures updated and send any samples they do not detect to Clam. Most AVs are better at detecting than cleaning.

Hi! Guitarbob:

Have you confirmed that you have files that are infected by uploading them to Jotti or VirusTotal?

Well, this first step was not possible since both files were hidden.

If you have confirmed an infection, does ClamWin spot it?

Yes! Clamwin did spot both of them. But after an apparent erased, ... appeared again. ... Repeated several times.

If it doesn't, then you need to upload the files to Clam and tell them about the infection(s) so they can prepare a signature for Clam/ClamWin, which you can use in a day or two.

How can I upload nasty files to clamwin?

If ClamWin can spot an infection, it can Quarantine/Remove it if you set General Preferences, Infected Files to do so.

2u.com, this trojan was very nasty; I think it copied itself after every try to be erased or quarantined under Clamwin. It was throughout. I use to be quite careful, ... ... But I am realistic! How can one be "safe" running under windoze? Anyway, since a couple of years I'm running under win xp uE, and this tunned o.s. is more stable.

Here I have to thank you this suggestion! Dr. Web's finally did the job. What a fine piece of soft. I'm going to buy it. In these last times I was very distrustful aboul AV. Mainly since I knew throuhg Linux users, in Oct 1999, Mcs., McAffee, Norton and Panda, went through a close door meeting in Spain in order to "prepare" next virus 'campaigne'. By the way, my source was reliable in spite of that this could sound you as sci-fi.

It must to be so! I thought my computer was quite protected jus with COMODO, PeerGuardian2 and P2P Hazard 2.0 RC2 plus Clamwin. But it seems I did not pay enough attention

Regards,

Thank You again
