Hi,

Interesting thing happened:

Brand new install of XP Pro SP3 with security updates and Firefox. That's it. Installed ClamWin 0.94.1. After that, ever Google search result had the "This site may harm your computer" message. Every one. I checked on another system just to make sure this wasn't a web-wide Google problem, but no, not a problem.

Uninstalled Clamwin, and my Google search results were back to normal. Any ideas?

Sounds strange. Do you have any web filtering programs running? Did you use the same browser on both computers?

Google search results are frequently "posioned." Some of the "bad boys" have become expert in Search Engine Optimization. Many times when I do a search for a security-related topic, I see the fake AV programs among the results.

At first thought, I wouldn't think ClamWin would be responsible--it doesn't monitor web traffic or do anything in real time. If you can, install ClamWin on that other computer and see what happens to it.

I've checked this on three computers, two running winxp, one linux. the system with clam win had the problem in both firefox and IE 8, but when i uninstalled clamwin, it went away. I can't see how clamwin would affect search results, either. Other than what I listed above, and IE 8, nothing has been installed or optimizedI. This is a brand new install.

'll try clamwin on another installation and see what happens.

Follow my F-Secure link, and you will see that this was a Google problem. Perhaps you uninstalled ClamWin, and it was already fixed by Google by that time.
