I had trouble with Clamwin not detecting the virus from the following security bulletin from MS. Is winclam capable of correcting these viruses?

Yes, ClamWin will detect the Conflicker/Downadup/Kido virus, but it cannot detect a variant that is not in the Clam signature database. That's why users should send samples of undetected viruses to Clam AV at their submission page--see the ClamWin anti-malware page for the location of the Clam submission page.
ClamWin cannot repair any infection, however--it can only Report/Quarantine/Remove, depending upon the general infected file preference you have chosen. This preference comes with a Report default.
