Unfortunately Clamwin doesn't offer much protection for a PC but it is free. So that is one good thing. Your best bet is to get a MAC I heard those are way better than Microsoft because it has built in virus protection.. Take it from someone who is been battling clamwin for a long time. It's a complicated virus system.

Windows has many more users than Apple Mac does. This means that the virus/malware writers (who do it for money now--not for notariety) have a much better payoff from writing Windows malware than they do from writing malware for the Mac. There are indications, however, that the Mac is getting more notice from the bad guys, and I think that in 2008 you will see much more Mac viruses/malware. Here's what Sophos thinks about it: https://www.sophos.com/pressoffice/news/articles/2008/01/security-report.html . (The period isn't part of the link)

The Mac OS isn't any safer than the Windows OS. The only thing that could help the Mac is if Mac users are smart enough to use a configured firewall, to keep antivirus/antispyware updated, to not click on suspicious links, to not visit suspicious web sites, to not use cracked software/sites, and to not engage in dangerous social networking. My bet is they are no smarter than Windows users when it comes to security.

I's sorry, Mig... I guess we got carried away. ClamWin version 1.0 will have a real-time resident scanner and a new GUI interface. There is no set release date, however, but watch your version numbers as they progress. ClamWin version .92 is the current version.
