Since upgrading to version 0.92 I can no longer scan files that I have saved to my Desktop. I get a signature error that Calm Win needs to close! Any suggestion here? I did search the forum and could not find any answer related to my question.
Thanks Jerry

To all my OS is Windows XP Home SP2. The previous version of CalmWin worked just fine. I have done as instructed with ResHacker by deleting the 24 folder in CalmWin version 0.92. I get a error message that the "Setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program." Either I don't know what I'm doing with ResHacker or this hack is not working for me. As of now I'm with out any virus protection. I know there are many out there but CalmWin is the one I like the most. Is there a possibility of getting a download link to the previous version?
Thanks to All!
Jerry

Don't be without an antivirus if you use the Web. Use the free version of AVG, Anti Vir, or Avast until you get this straightened out.

Thanks for the info. I will try Anti Vir. I want CalmWin to work. Everything is go but the scanning a file with CalmWin. I did find a link to version 0.91.2 and I'm still having the same problem. Only thing I have done is Windows critical updates.

Have you uninstalled ClamWin 0.92 and deleted the entire folder C:\Program Files\Clamwin ??
If not, the installer of 0.91.2 will not overwrite newer files.

budtse

Yes I did a complete uninstall of version 0.92 Folder and all. I reinstalled 0.91.2 and had the same problem. I'm running AntiVir right now but really don't like it. Guess I have to shop around or hope someone can figure out what I need to do. I'm stumped! Maybe I need to defrag, scan disk, and then reinstall. I really don't see what difference that would make as the only part of CalmWin that don't work is when scanning a file I have saved to my Desktop!

What kind of files are on your desktop? I can't scan Windows XP Firewall or Security Center from the desktop--there's no right click context option to scan from Windows explorer, but I can scan "real" files from the desktop.
You can't see the desktop if you click on the ClamWin icon in the system tray, Open it, and hit C drive--there's no desktop shown. It's like that because (on Windows XP) the desktop is actually located under Documents and Settings/All Users/Desktop. You can do a partial scan from there, but you probably won't be able to scan every program/icon on the desktop.
Does this help you any?

I get an e-mail attachment from a friend. I download a executable file from the Internet. I save them to my Desktop. I right click on the file I just saved and select the option to scan with CalmWin. I then get an application error that CalmWin has encounter problems and needs to close. I don't think I can be any clearer then this. If I'm doing something wrong here or not explaining something clear please let me know. I think CalmWin is great and I really want to use it!
