Here's a shot at your questions (If i'm wrong about something, i'm pretty sure it will be corrected):
* ClamWin currently has no real-time protection, it is an on-demand scanner only. * The developers are working on a rewrite of ClamWin in C++/C# which will contain real-time protection. The real-time protection will not work on Win98 though, since it is implemented as an NT-driver. The rest of the program (the service and GUI) should work if you install the .NET framework. * Even after the release of this rewrite, it is still the intention of the team to continue to support/upgrade the current Python application as it is now, so you can always continue using this on Win98. * As for email-scanning: there is only a plugin for MS Outlook, which is a totally different product as Outlook Express, so it won't work on Outlook Express. * There is no support for the Mailwasher program. I don't know this program, but some email programs allow you to configure it to use an external command-line scanner. In that case you could set it up to use the clamscan program which is used by and delivered with ClamWin. I hope this answers your questions, Peter |
