Correct. The only files needed are these for a functional command line scanner: clamscan.exe freshclam.exe libclamav.dll Microsoft.VC80.CRT pthreadVC2.dll and if you want to mess with the signatures, otherwise this is optional: sigtool.exe |

If you just want to use clamscan, i suggest you completely uninstall clamwin and download Sherpya's native port from https://oss.netfarm.it/clamav/ https://oss.netfarm.it/clamav/. Then you will have only the files you need, except for the virus database which you can download from https://www.clamav.net www.clamav.net.

as a followup, can you explain how the configuration works for clamscan and freshclam? i'm trying to put as much configuation info as possible into these config files so that I can just run clamscan and freshclam without any parameters/flags.
1) where can i find a list of all options for clamd.conf 2) when executing clamscan and freshclam what config file(s) do they look for? i keep seeing references to files like "clamd.conf", "freshclam.conf", and "clamconf.conf". are they all different? do they each support different options and if so, where can I find a full listing of them? thanks guys! |

thanks, but those just look like the command-line options. i want to try and configure my clamd.conf file with these options permanently, so that i can just run "clamscan.exe" and it will automatically work.
for instance, in my clamd.conf file I have DatabaseDirectory C:\xxx\yyy and when I run clamscan.exe it knows to use the database in that directory without supplying the "--datadir" parameter. |

I'm not familiar with using ClamWin in a network environment, so I'm not much help. I understand that it presently uses clamscan--not clamd, for scanning.

you can merge this registry entry
for datadir you may want to share it with clamwin freshclam needs a config file while clamscan not basic freshclam.conf:
you can also use HKCU instead of HKLM in the registry hope this helps |
