Files ending in .clamtmp are "housekeeping" for files that ClamWin had a problem with while scanning. They are not infected. It is supposed to delete these files at some point, but sometimes it doesn't. You see them ocasionally but not usually to such a large extent. I had this happen to me once and never could figure out why. I suppose you could do a Search for files with clamtmp in the name, and when it's completed, do a block delete of them.
When time allows, the ClamWin developers (all two of them) will probably take a look and see what can be done. If you could identify the file(s) that caused the problem and post back here, it might help them.

I have just reciently been experiencing this problem on my windows 98 machine. When I check the properties all directories are set to read only and the check box is greyed out. If I try a delete I receive a question about readonly and deleting. I have block selected the files and deleted them but it is a pain.
Does Clamwin set the read only attribute while using it and then not return it to not read only before attempting to delete the directory?
The work around is not the best alternative.
Thank you for the help.

hmm it shouldn't
need to check it on win98 but it's very strange, mkdir on windows has only 1 argument that is the directory name
while unix mkdir() has also permissions
