I got a trojan virus and I don't know what to do. I tried scanning with a bunch of other scanners but they required me to pay to remove the viruses.

Can clamwin remove it and how do I do it?

How did you discover the trojan? Have you identified it? Do you know its name/description?

If you are using a paid antivirus software, I suggest you contact the vendor. Tell them what is going on and request help.

If that is not an option, try a scan with one of the good antispyware programs. Windows Defender is free, and the paid ones usually have trial versions. If that doesn't help, try the free Malicious Software Removal Tool from Microsoft. McAfee also has a free tool called Stinger.

If the trojan is still around after that, you can do an online scan/removal for some malware. I suggest you start with Trend Micro's online scan at https://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/ and click on the Housecall scan. Another good online scan is NOD32 which is at https://www.eset.com/onlinescan/index.php on the Web. Try them both, startilng with Trend.

I found it using PC tools but I need to pay to get rid of it and I don't know what kind of trojan it is. at the moment I'm letting a lot of the scans you linked me to search my PC. The reason I found it in the first place was because oblivion was stuttering pretty badly so I scanned my computer and foundthe trojan and a few zango viruses. will the scans you linked me to quarantine or delete the infections?

Yes, the Trend Micro and NOD32 online scans will quarantine or delete malware, if possible. Much of the malware around now is hard to get rid of once it is on your machine, however. That is why you need to use a good antispyware scan also--some of them do a good job against certain trojans.

If you have an uncomplicated antivirus program like ClamWin on your computer, sometimes a scan in Safe Mode will have a better chance of deleting malware, but the complicated antivirus programs don't seem to work as well in Safe Mode.

Castle Cops forum or Bleeping Computer's forums have some good people who can help, but it may take a while.

I think I got rid of the trojans (I used the 30 day trisl of trojan hunter) but I still have a problem I think was related to the infections. My internet connection is saying "server execution failed" when I highlight it but I can still connect and the other problem is nothing in my windows media player will play anymore. Maybe they got corrupted by the viruses?

You might try running the trojan hunter in Safe Mode and see if that helps. You might also want to do the free Microsoft full service scan at https://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm?s_cid=sah/?s_cid=sah to clean up your computer. Use a firewall and resident AV with the trojan hunter to keep safe in the future, and stay away from "bad" sites.
