I believe this is okay. You will regularly find some files that ClamWin can't scan. Some of them are system files and others are files/programs that were open/used when ClamWin made the scan. You can do a search on Google for a file name and look into it.

Thanks GuitarBob, I also wanted to know about if it was not too long for the scan, my comp. does have a ram booster and about or just short of a mega ram.

ClamWin does scan kind of slow, the bigger the hard drive the longer it takes for a complete scan. You've already set ClamWin to scan for executable files only--that helps. You could also set preferences (configuration) to only scan certain file types and/or eliminate certain file types from scanning. ClamWin comes configured to exclude a few file types from a scan. One of the developers recently suggested adding several other file types to be excluded that take ClamWin a long time to scan (CAB, CHM and MSI I believe). I've set my preferences for ClamWin to only scan about 50 file types, and it takes about 54 minutes to scan my entire 160 megabyte hard drive. Of course, you are taking a small chance of missing some malware this way, but the file types scanned are those that are most likely to harbor malware. You can also use another full-time/resident scanner that also does a scheduled scan. That way, ClamWin is only used for backup, so you're not really taking much of a chance. Some good free resident scaners are: AVG, AntiVir, and Avast.

Thanks for taking the time to help GuitarBob, if, when, I'm proficient enough to go that deeply I'll try to use your tips.
I had used AntiVir Alvira The premium version also which cost money, here in Germany but it had allowed viruses through in particular 'PSHING' Fishing, for my Bank details, "Not a Happy Bob" me! And 'ZLOBS' and dialups That Defender and ClamWin found.

You can do a Google search for "dangerous file types" and that will tell you most of them--about 35, I believe. To that, you should add document types (Excel, Word, Power Point and pdf files) and the most popular compression types (Zip, etc.), php, dll, and sys. That should be about 50 file types in all.

Some antivirus companies still don't think they should have to worry about anything but "viruses," but malware is malware, no matter what it does. Clam/ClamWin has several different signatures--including viruses and "popular" spyware/phishing malware.

I like Avira AntiVir--it's pretty good, but not quite as good as its paid version--most AV software isn't. That's why I like ClamWin--it's not paid, it's updated frequently, and they are working on upgrading it to resident status. No antivirus can catch everything, and AntiVir with ClamWin would provide you with good security until ClamWin becomes resident.
