Sorry about being a slow-learner when logging in.

I currently use BitDefender for antivirus protection and routinely get the message that it detected the VBS.Timfu.A virus (but, thanks to BitDefender, my computer was not infected). This message is associated with sometimes nearly 100 *.$$$ files which are located in my C:\Windows\temp directory. I ran ClamWin (set to look for *.$$$ along with the default files), searching C:\Windows and subdirectories, but no mention of *.$$$ files or of VBS.Timfu.A.

I got the follow message during the scan, but no other:

Questions:

1) Is VBS.Timfu.A a threat?
2) Is BitDefender any good?

Thanks.

BitDefender is a good antivirus program. It's a "keeper." I've noticed in their forum that they don't seem to have as many user problems as a lot of other AV programs. Many of the signatures developed by the Clam AV people reference BitDefender or Kaspersky. BD is a tad slower than some AV software, but it is very "intelligent" and does more than most of them. It may be at its best with entirely new malware or if malware actually starts running on your system. Tell them about any false positives you find--you will help make it even better.

Regards,
