Had a look around for a fix to this and can see a few people who have tried what has been asked (comspec and dll) but these do not fix the problem. I too have tried (updated clamwin from a quite old version).

I think that certain files are locked, I have noticed that there is a folder, that can be renamed but not deleted, in the root of c called "cygwin". I have also just restored an old clamwin folder from the recycle bin (restored to the root of c) and this too can not be deleted.

When you try to delete the folder it says that it is not empty.

Can you go inside c:\cygwin and the c:\clamwin folders and try to delete individual files to see which one is causing a problem?

Did you try rebooting, maybe some program has the folders opened?
Anyway if there are no files in these folders you may download ClamWin 0.87.1 and install it ithe default location it should work.

Nah tried that, doesn't work. I just thought these folders might have had something to do with it not working on folks systems. My old version of clamwin (was about version 0.8 ) worked but the upgrade to the new version never has.

Sorry for an obvious suggestion, but I have to ask it. Do you have "Show Hidden Files" enabled?

Hum. That's a bit wild isnt it? Quite a few people seem to have this problem, from an upgrade and it not working. It isn't a disk problem. Grumble.

well if you have folders that appear empty but cannot be removed it may be caused by the erros in filesystem. chkdsk would tell you.
I was trying to solve the empty non-deleteable folders problem first. However I don't think that the folders and clamwin problems are related.
