There are two ways Windows can recognize antivirus and other security products. In manual detection mode, Windows searches for the unique registry keys/files that have been provided to Microsoft by the software manufacturers to help determine the status of their software. In Windows Management Instrumentation mode (WMI mode), the software determines its own status and reports back to the Windows Security Center through a WMI provider (whatever that is). It looks like the WMI mode is more involved, and probably costs money.
I think ClamWin could use the manual mode and furnish Microsoft the registry keys/filenames to help Windows determine its status. This would certainly give the product more recognizition. Regards, |
