Dear All,
Our company currently uses Clamwin on all our client PCs and its scans all the emails each person has in Outlook. We are due to make a server change to IMAP and thus all the emails will be stored on our server and scanned by it. People will still use Outlook to see the emails but I don't want the emails to be scanned twice unnecessarily.
Is there a way I can disable email scanning by Clamwin on the client PCs without removing Clamwin completely. I would like to keep clamwin on all the machines to scan for viruses on the hard drive and any files that are opened by the machine from a remove media - is this possible?
Any help or advice would be grately appreciated.

Hi,
You can disable the clamwin addin by changing the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\ClamWin.OutlookAddin\LoadBehavior from "3" to "2".
PLEASE NOTE that this will completely disable email scanning !!!
(MrPobble, this warning may not be for you as much as for other readers).
Off course, you'll need to restart Outlook afterwards.

The ability to EASILY select whether or not to scan email is a good option to include because many computer users nowadays have email provided by an internet service provider who scans their email for them.

All right,
On general request (provided Alch agrees), I'll add an "Email Scanning" sections to the preferences, on which a checkbox "Enable Outlook Addin".
The section can be used for future preferences regarding the outlook and thunderbird (in spe) plugin.

Choice is always good, provided it doesn't get in the way of the program and the user is able to make an intelligent choice.
