In the last few days I have received many spam emails containg a new attachment (new meaning an .exe file I hadn't seen before). Usually, or always, this is junk, but this time my on-access scanner (Antivir) didn't sound the alarm bell. That seemed strange, so i did a scan with ClamWin and sure enough it indicated a problem with these files (I can't remember what they were called).
After this I did an online scan, you know the one where multiple engines are used. Out of the 15(?) only ClamAV reported a problem. I decided to send a sample file to Antivir. This is their reply:
"We found a new virus in the attachment you have sent us.
The pattern recognition will be integrated in one of our next updates."
If that isn't impressive I don't know what is. Well done ClamAV\ClamWin
