I can't uninstall my ClamWin. I get the following message:

File "D:\program files\Clamwin\unins000.dat" could not be opened. Cannot uninstall. Error 5: access is denied

Please... any advice as to how to proceed?

Thanks much!

you can uninstall manually:
1) delete d:\program files\clamwin
2) delete c:\documents and settings\<username>\Application Data\.clamwin
3) delete c:\documents and settings\all users\.clamwin
4) delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\Clamwin value from registry

If I try and delete d:\program files\clamwin I get: cannot delete clamav_report_110107_020752.txt: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use

Any other way to do this? Question

make sure your user has permission to remove the file, also it may be locked by some other program (very strange), I suggest you to use this utility
to remove locked files:

looks like your user account has no write/delete access to "d:\program files\clamwin" folder. Check folder psecurity permissions - right-click on the folder in the Windows Explorer, then select properties and go to Security tab.

Before I do anything, I have Windows XP MEDIA CENTER EDITION. Is this Home or Pro?

Also, I downloaded:

- How to set privileges on Windows XP home edition? Download the resource kit here and from the command line set the privileges you need: SeBackupPrivilege, SeDebugPrivilege and SeLoadDriverPrivilege. Here is the example for the debug privileges: ntrights +r SeDebugPrivilege -u YourAccountName

As per the instructions. What do I put in the command line to get these files unlocked?

Thanks

Can you give me detailed instructions? I am not very techno-savvy and don't really know what to do.

Thanks! Wink

since currently I don't have access to an english windows I'll tell you cacls command line.
Then open command prompt, go in clamwin directory
Code:

cd "d:\program files\clamwin"

then for each file that you cannot delete
Code:

cacls filename /P Everyone:F

Long on as the same user that installed ClamWin. Then click START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD OR REMOVE SOFTWARE and click on ClamWin after all software is listed. Restart computer after ClamWin is removed and check again to make sure it is gone.
