| Will we make a Winpooch? |

I don´t think so...
Last Winpooch version sux (Clamav intgrated), it´s too slow and noisy (pop-ups always), doesnt have silent install and can be easily shut down by the user - so it can´t be a corporate solution. So, what´s the issue of using the api hooking make the real-time scanner? Just scanning files on the background, every time they are opened? I think this is the ultimate barrier to make the Clamwin a complete AV solution (and 100% GPL, what it´s VERY important). |

I recently downloaded the current (beta) Winpooch, and it took over my computer a la McAfee/Norton. The stable version may be better, but the situation was enough to make me forget about it, and I really like Open Source.
ClamAV took over from Open Antivirus, and it appears to be doing a better job. ClamWin is an offshoot from ClamAV. It's tough to get a decent open source antivirus program, and my hat/thanks is off to all of them. Perhaps next year we will see version 1.0! Regards, |

DGM: Yes it will.
By the way, if you use Firefox, There is an extension called ClamWin Glue for FireFox, which scans files with ClamWin automatically after download. |
