Lukasz, a programmer from Poland, is working on a new, basic version of Clam Sentinel that uses Clam AV signatures (no ClamWin infolved) and new self-developed heuristics. It will be a very basic AV and should probably be used by advanced AV users. Lukasz has a working version that he is preparing to release, and he will then stop development to let someone else carry it forward. I have used the working version, and it is very basic. If I am able to post here, I will inform you when/where it is ready. You can also check with me at rscrogg at g mail dot com in 4 to 6 weeks..

Work on the new Clam Sentinel continues. Lukasz has completed a basic application that includes heuristics, scanning with Clam AV and simple onfiguration capability. At present it can only scan one folder in real-time, but the next version will include all folders. I will keep you informed.

Lukasz has discontinued work on the new Clam Sentinel. He has taken it about as far as he could go, but his work remains on the Gitea website for anyone who wants to continue it. It is basically a Python rewrite of Andrea Russo's original Delphi 6 code. Lukasz is switching to the Linux Mint operating system and helping with additional development of the ClamTK antiviral program.

I guess this is the end of Clam Sentinel, although development was actually stopped in 2014. It appears that ClamWin development also finished a few years ago as a practical measure. I will not be doing any more posting. I have enjoyed my association/work with both Clam Sentinel and ClamWin.

I would encourage users to switch to some version of Linux. Linux Mint is my main computer due to its safety and reliability. If too much LInux malware starts to be written, I am sure that someone will develop an antivirus/security program that is better than Clam AV.

Robert Scroggins
