Using the STOP button in the virus scanner has the side effect of clearing
the message buffer. This is dumb. I didn't say stop, and throw away all
the information you've collected so far.

I don't know which version are you using, but 0.88.5 retains the infected files information after you press stop.

I am using 0.88.5 and I did see the behavior I reported.
windows 2003
and lots of those "file write error" messages were present.

I suggest you do this test:
1. download test file form eicar.org
2. run the scan of the whole drive and wit until eicar.com file gets scanned
3. click on Stop and then check the report
