What about the installation of clamwin. Is it the same as clamav?
I'm looking for a DLL that i can access from my ASP.Net application (running on MS IIS Very Happy) to scan uploaded files. Can i do that with clamwin?

best regards

you can, the library is called libclamav
in current version of clamwin it uses cygwin compatibility layer and will require cygwin1.dll and some others (you use depends to figure out which dlls are needed)

You can find the documentation on libclamav on www.clamav.net

Also please note that you need to follow GPL license when using libclamav.

thanks so far.
i am not sure if i completely understand the GPL-license-text.
If i sell an application, that uses the clamav library, do i also need to make a notation on screen after a file has been scanned via http-file-upload?
Or is it enough to make comments in my code-files?
And if so, what do i need to write?

I am not a lawyer but my unerstanding is that if you make a derivative work based on GPL product, then your work must be GPL too.

However if your commercial product uses GPL work but is not derived form it (like a web upload service one functions of which is to scan files ussing a libclamav) then you need to make a prominent notice that the product uses ClamAV and display a GPL license where appropriate. Also if you decide to distribute clamav with your product then you need to comply with GPL and distribute clamav with the source code.

DISCLAIMER: please don't take my note as an advice, it is best to consult with an IT lawyer.
