Microsoft's Windows Defender is a free AV program that comes with Windows. It is as good as any antivirus and better than most. It is backed by Microsoft, which is bigger than any AV company, and there are many good, qualified people working on it.
The ClamWin developers recommend that you use ClamWin as backup to a real-time Windows Av.
