I haven't worried about ClamWin warnings of not being able to open a file for a long time now. They usually mean the file is open in some other appp/process and ClamWin can't access it in that case. There also could be something about the files in your crypto folder that makes ClamWin unable to process it. Remember ClamWin is just a Windows port of Clam AV for Linux mail servers. Perhaps Linux mail servers don't have to worry abut crypto folders/files.
For better protection--especially for network/business application, I suggest you use a more suitable AV--perhaps along with ClamWin. Many commercial Linux email installations use one/more other AVs and keep Clam AV around for a backup--it used to have quick turnaround for spreading email worms, but it has fallen behind now, and so has ClamWin. I'm not asking about the WARNINGs... I'm asking about the 3 errors it says it has even though there's no "ERROR" messages anywhere. Like I said, the WARNINGs are obviously not the 3 errors it refers to, as there's hundreds of them. So where's the 3 errors it's actually referring to?!
What other more suitable AV do you suggest? I use Microsoft Security Essentials by default, then a weekly ClamWin scan. I'm not using Linux here obviously. |

Security Essentials is a good AV--greatly improved. It's good enough. I believe that Fortinet's Forticlient AV is available for both business and personal use. I would only download it from the Fortinet web site. Fortinet makes "black boxes" that provide protection for businesses. Forticlient Av is part of the system, but it is freely available for ordinary users without the sandbox, threat information, and other features of their black boxes. Their web shield is the best that I have seen.
Don't know how to capture those real errors--you might ID them before closing ClamWin after a scan by going up in the online info to see if they are listed. There may also be a temp file of the onscreen info--don't know about that though. Regards, |

OK, I'll look into Forticlient AV.
How do I ID them? All it says is "Total errors: 3"... where?! That's why I posted, I can't find what it's talking about. I don't know what you mean by "going up in the online info"... ClamWin posts my scan online with more info? I kind of consider that a security issue. I already scrolled through all of the recent scans but they're from different days and they also don't mention "error" or "Error" or "ERROR"... and I don't know what you mean by a temp file of the onscreen info... all that was onscreen was the scan report log text... which is in a file that is set in the settings... which is where I copied the text from. |

I meant that you should try to scroll up in a report after it has finished to look at the detail.
That is about all the help I can provide. I don't worry about errors in a report unless ClamWin breaks. By breaking, I mean it stops working. It is based on Clam AV, and Clam AV developers have never worried too much about use on a Windows machine. Regards, |
