As one retired biker to another...

What computer/OS are you using ClamWin on?

I may have seen that message once in 11 years with ClamWin, but it doesn't ring a bell. If you have just installed ClamWin, try uninstalling it and then reinstall it as an administrator (right click, select admin) instead of just clicking to install. See if that helps.

Are you running any other software that might conflict with ClamWin--maybe another AV that is real-time? That is usually okay but we don't know about every AV. ClamWin is an on-demand scanner, not a real-time one, so the developers actually recommend you use ClamWin as a backup to a real-time scanner.

Let us know how it goes.

Greetings - a third retired biker here!

OP: You may be infected with a trojan rootkit. See https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-the-requested-resource-is-in-use-error for info. If you are indeed infected with a rootkit, I recommend formatting your hard drive and re-installing Windows. Rootkits can leave hidden files and registry entries behind, so there's no way to guarantee complete removal.

Please let us know how you progress.

Good call, Lipper!

I recommend he try to run Dr. Web CureIT to see if it can find a rootkit. It is free for home use, you can download it to a USB and run it without installing it, and each downloaded copy has a different random filename. It is worth a try, and it has helped me a couple of times. Run it first with normal defaults. Then if it does not find anything, you can configure your own settings for it to run. It is available for free at https://download.drweb.com/?lng=en on the web.

Microsoft's Safety Scanner has also helped me a few times, but I think Dr. Web CureIT is better. You can download Safety Scanner at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/products/scanner on the web. It is worth a try if Dr. Web CureIT does not work. You do not have to install it--just download to a USB and run it.

There is one other thing to try if you do not have any luck with the programs mentioned above. Try Zemana Antimalware free at https://www.zemana.com/en-US/AntiMalware on the web. The download is a trial version for 15 days or so. You will have to install it to run it. The main reason to try it is to get access to their support people, who will help you get rid of malware for free.

Keep in touch and let us know how it goes.
