....I apologize ahead of time if this has been broached already, but I wouldn't know how to search for this topic if it has.

I just did my first scan, and I let it run for about 2 or so hours (I have WindowsXP2000) and in the VirusScanner box, there was a bunch of stuff saying: " ERROR: can't open file/ blah blah blah/..... over and over again.

I realize that this is normal (I went and read the FAQs) but at the very end of this "paragraph", the scan appeared to have stopped....it wasn't still scanning anything as far as I could tell.

Was the scan complete? I couldn't tell. I just need to know if it says anything at the end of the scan (ie: "SCAN IS COMPLETE", or something like that) or if it just stops. I wasn't sure if I should just let it run another two hours(!) or if something had made it stop, like a glitch or something.

I hope this post makes sense, as I realize I don't know all the proper jargon to explain my problem.

Thanks,

PS: Great forum!

It should say:

Quote:

--------------
Completed
--------------

When the scan is completed. It should also show a summary of the scan, so no, it's not normal.

can you check which file does it scan last and try to move/exclude it?

Well, unfortunately I stopped the scan because it wasn't moving forward (that I could see) so I figured it must have been done/hit a glitch. I will have to repeat the scanning process, and just see where it takes me.

Then if it does the same thing (which it probably will) I will make a note of which file it is, and remove it, or whatever.

I appreciate the input. I'll give it another shot tonight.
