Clamwin scan detects trojan but cannot delete it. Where to now? Not quite the outcome I expected.

ClamWin is a simple AV that uses the scan engine and virus signatures from the Clam AV project. Clam AV is designed to detect email viruses on mail servers. It does not have any cleaning routines other than a simple file deletion. It is also more subject to false positive detections than other AVs. You might try a complete scan with ClamWin in Windows safe mode, but that will not remove any malware registry entries and other traces. So, I recommend that you get Malwarebytes Antimalware free and do a regular scan with it. Before scanning, configure it to to scan for rootkits.

Since ClamWin is not a real-time scanner (it only scans on-demand when you tell it to), you should use it as a backup scanner to a real-time scanner. There are several free ones, and any of them will do a good job of protecting your computer against most malware.

Hopefully, 1.0 comes out, soon, so that ClamWin will have a real-time protection. Still, Malwarebytes is "the cure of all systems", although, not as good as the company thinks it is (out-dated heuristics, out-dated IP filters, and not a very effective real-time protection for their premium version), it does live up to its title (I would know, I use to malware hunt for them years ago). I recommend sticking to the free version and not bothering buying the premium.
