I was doing a scan in ClamWin. It was about 90% completed and I accidentally hit a key on my keyboard that closed off ClamWin during the scan. A nice option would be to have the ability to drop the menu to the background during the scan so that accidents like this don't happen again.

Also, I notice when you run a scan, it locks the homepage of ClamWin to the back of the scanner and cannot be accessible. The homepage shouldn't be locked behind the scanner. I notice if you click on ClamWin shortcut, it will open up another window. ClamWin should also have it only having 1 window open at one time.

Hope both of my suggestions make sense and can be done. Good luck ClamWin team and keep up the good work.

I think that problems like you described are due to ClamWin's present configuration--specifically its dependency upon Python scripting. If it were updated to run completely under Windows, it would be more flexible and probably use less resources. A talented user recently described how to run ClamWin as a Windows service--I hope the developers learn from it. It is getting a bit dated now!

Is the GUI coded in Python or C++? Which parts of ClamWin/ClamAV are coded in C++ and Python?

I think the GUI is probably Python and the scan code is C++. The scan code/signatures come from Clam AV, and they have no need for GUI--I don't know about the quarantine code, but it would have to be customized for a Windows application since it would originally have been for Linux. Alch may have mixed some Python code in with the scan code to get it to work on Windows. It started out as a simpler app back about 2004-2006 and got more complicated as the viruses did too. Evidently some special Windows incense has to be burned now with each new Clam AV version--it needs a rewrite badly.
