I believe that ClamWin works okay on any version of Windows XP. It works on Windows 98 (with some problems now and then--primarily due to lack of resources and the closed operating system). If it works on Win 98, it should work on Win XP.
Since some AVS are discontinuing support for Win XP, you might look into the free Clam Sentinel real-time front-end for ClamWin. It is free, open source and available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. It is a separate project from ClamWin that was developed to provide some additional protection when files are added, modified, or copied on your computer.
