Can Clam Sentinel 1.21 and ClamWin 0.98.1 work with Panda Cloud Anti virus without conflict on Windows XP Pro SP3?

These are the security layers I plan, part of it is network. I have Comcast, modem, Linksys router, Sandboxie (paid), SpywareBlaster (auto updates), Clam sentinel, ClamWin, (Panda Cloud Antivirus), and Windows8FirewallControl (and Windows Firewall); plus these second opine scanners Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, VBA32 Antirootkit, Gmer, and Panda Antirootkit.

Yes, ClamWin/Clam Sentinel will work with Panda Cloud. Actually, I think that is all you need for software security programs, along with Windows Firewall and Firecontrol or TinyWall. Just exclude the ClamWin data/quarantine folders from Panda Cloud's scans. Watch it that Clam Sentinel doesn't have a false positive detection while you are installing Panda.

Malwarebytes Free is always nice to have around because it doesn't scan in real-time, and the free version is almost as good as the paid version--the on-demand heuristics do a lot of the spotting of new malware on both versions. I use Sandbox IE occasionally, but a lot of the intelligent malware will not run in a sandbox or virtual machine now. Spyware Blaster is okay--it enables you to disable flash to protect against exploits, has a basic system restore/hosts protection, and it doesn't use any resources, so there's nothing wrong with using it. For anti-rootkit protection, I would rather use Bitdefender's free Bootkit Removal tool or one of the free rescue CD/USB's from F-Secure, Kaspersky, or Dr. Web (rescue CD/USBs use a separate OS, so if their definitions are up-to-date, they can find most rootkits).

Your setup should be good for a year or two, but I would upgrade to a newer OS after that. The malware writers are creative, and the OS has to change to keep up--the AV programs can't protect against everything unfortunately.

Thanks for using ClamWin/Clam Sentinel.

because it has a cheap paid version. I have a couple of macs, pre Intel, a computer with Vista (Microsoft it to me free; I bought 7 but gave to grand nephews and nieces) where I moved Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete. I figure get as far with this one as I can, then install SUSE. When Ms stops supporting the Vista, install Ubuntu. I'm an old man, Linux seems fewer hassles for last years of my life.

I can sandbox the browsers on the Vista; it'll stop some.

I really liked and learned from your analysis. I have Bitdefender's free Bootkit Removal tool and a couple of rescue cds. I'm the family geek and at 71 I feel like Buck Rogers. Had Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete on this computer, moved it to the Vista. I administer security for a relative in NYC and one in Florida, and mine, plus my tablet and phone, the relative's phone in NYC.

My hypothesis that Panda will work with ClamWin and Sentinel. I had Webroot and Avast together. Avast has become bloated and too much ad. So ClamWin with Sentinel, and hope Panda. SeaMonkey my default browser/mail has Bitdefender QuickScan on it as another second opinion Also have32 gig usb drive with portable apps tools and security apps

I harden OSs, those tweaks that shut some known attack vectors; I disable unneeded services, and uninstall Telnet.

I considered using some of the old DiamondCS such as ProcessGuard. Used it for awhile on this XP; it was effective, but rigid as hell. Irritated me, second only to UAC.

So I leave you with a hearty and appreciative Thank you; also this blues stanza from one of my favorite poems, "wally."

Hey! Looks like we are kindred spirits. I've been around a long time myself. Do you play blues guitar? I'd like to find someone to teach me to do a little bit better slide work on Dust My Broom. I see you are from Alabama--maybe you have a little of that Duane Allman mojo!

guitarists out the room. Love the instrument; it's sexy; porno almost to play it, to pluck around with it. I play language, use consonant and vowel sounds, singly, as notes, together as chords Not quite same but some good sounds. Influenced by friend who is superb musician. Also Campion did it during Elizabethan period. That stanza, previous post, mine, from a longer poem in which the accented vowels are same in each line;there's one section where one line varies a bit, but close, as in any improvisation. The three lines have short e, oo as in blues, and a as in father. The whole poem carries that through, same accented vowels each line, but the consonants vary for the sonic improv effects. It's an intense way to go, few know what it is, though know somethings up.

Installed Panda Cloud, first scan Windows8FirewallControl block its internet access, but easy to correct. I decided to take your advice, uninstall Sandboxie and replace it with free Sandboxie. The free not as global. A sandboxed browser may stop some.

Interesting. Lots of work though, but I guess it would come easier to some than others.

You might want to look at WinPatrol. It is an early-style behavior blocker that monitors your PC's critical areas (including startup, hidden files, registry), and it does not take up too many resources. There is a free verison with a bit of a delay before notices, and the paid/real-time version is $30 for a lifetime license. You can set up custom registry notifications, and it comes with some suggested defaults. I would use it on XP along with Spyware Blaster. See https://www.billp.com/ on the web.
