Hi I'm an everyday windows Me user, and as every person of good security know you must have multiple antivirus, and spyware programs. I decided to use ClamWin along side avast 4.8. The only issue is I don't know how to white list in ClamWin. I personally so far love it (I have it on multiple computers) but I don't want to have them conflict. Also I don't know why you undermine your self when people compare ClamWin to avast, or others. I never found Norton, avg good, and avast is good with Malware bytes. I so far find the same with ClamWin

You can learn how to whitelist files by bringing up the ClamWin help menu and look at Configuration, Filters. ClamWin is not a real-time AV that protects your computer all the time. It is an on-demand AV which only scans when you do a manual scan or a scheduled scan. We recommend you use it alongside a real-time AV. ClamWin is one of the few AVs available to users of older computers. If you have problems finding a real-time AV for an older computer, look into the Clam Sentinel project, another free security program which allows you to use ClamWin as a resident scanner, and Clam Sentinel also has its own heuristic scanner that detects malware for which there is no ClamWin signature.

Thanks for using ClamWin.

Yes hello I'm still having problems. Can you kindly tell me how I would whitelist this folder " C:\Program Files\Alwil Software " from clamwin. Thank you.

Right click the ClamWin clam icon in the Windows system tray at the bottom right of your screen. Select Configure ClamWin. Select Filters. Click the square by patterns on the left side of the screen (exclude matching filenames) to open up a text area. Paste the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software in the the text area. Click OK and you've got it. Now you know how to use the ClamWin filters. The right side of the filters screen is similar, and that is where you can put in your own file extensions to monitor. ClamWin will monitor all files and extensions except those that are inserted on the left side in the exclude matching filenames section.

Regards,
