You can set ClamWin options by right clicking on the ClamWin system tray icon and the select configure ClamWin choice or you can double click on the ClamWin desktop icon and select tools, preferences. The quarantine choices are under the general choices tab. You can select to report only (default), quarantine, or remove (never use this). Get to know the options under each tab.
As for false positives, you should verify any file detected by ClamWin with another AV before doing anything. I like to upload the file to Jotti or Virus Total and see what other AVs say about it. For a solid detection, look for detections by quality AVs--like Avast, Avira AntiVir, Bitdefender, Fortinet, Ikarus, Nod 32, Kaspersky, Microsoft, and Sophos. If Microsoft detects something, it is usually right. However, it is a bit slow in getting detection for new viruses. If a file detected by ClamWin turns out to be a false positive, exclude that file via the filters tab, exclude matching filenames. Example: C:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\clamwin.exe. Be very specific in identifying the file to be excluded.
After you exclude false positive files, you can restore them via the ClamWin Browser via Start, All Programs, ClamWin, Quarantine Browser. ClamWin has protection from false positive detections of important Windows files.
