I am a new user and just went through the installation process to create a stand alone virus scanner on a thumb drive. When I attempt to execute clamwin.exe I get messages that libclamav..dll is missing. When checking this file is in the bin folder on the thumb drive.

Here is the link to Alch's instructions for creating a portable ClamWin on USB drive:
https://www.clamwin.com/content/view/118/89/ from the ClamWin web site. Note the change to the configuration file for a standalone environment. I have done this, and it worked for me. My configuration file is in C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Roaming\.clamwin on my Windows 7 machine. I would rather do this than employ the ClamWin portable version from Portable Apps. A couple of those "dependency" files are no longer around, so I guess they are not needed--just copy everything in the ClamWin bin folder to USB as instructed.

Thanks for using ClamWin. I hope you enjoy using it. You do not have to use the Ask Toolbar to get any additional detection features, and it is one of the few AVs around now that doesn't have adware or nag screens. I hope that Sourcefire continues to support the Open Source Clam AV scanning engine and signature database used by ClamWin. They were recently bought by Cisco, and they have stated that they continue to support Open Source.

Regards,

P. S. I forgot to mention that you also need to change your ClamWin preferences to point to the file locations on the USB.

Regards,
