What Windows files are being falsely detected? Does Sentinel detect the files as "suspicious" or "infected"? A suspicious detection is a Clam Sentinel detection. An infected file is a ClamWin detection. You can whitelist ClamWin false detections in Configure, Filters, Exclude Matching Filenames. You should report ClamWin false detections to the Clam AV people at https://www.clamav.net/lang/en/sendvirus/ on the web. Choose the option to report false positives. Clam AV will correct their signature in 4 or 5 days, and you can drop the whitelisted file in ClamWin then.
For Clam Sentinel false detections, you must Stop Clam Sentinel and then whitelist the falsely-detected file in Sentinel's Advanced menu, Paths or Files not scanned. Use the path shown in the text file in quarantine. Then you can restore the file via Sentinel's Quarantine menu, Sentinel Recover. Then you can Start Sentinel again. You will have to leave this item in the Sentinel whitelist--that is the only way to fix a Sentinel false "infected file" detection. ClamWin and Clam Sentinel have not been tested on Windows 8, so there could be problems in using them on that OS. Regards, |
