After I let Kaspersky expire I tried some things including Moon Secure AV and ClamWin Antivirus before trying to go back to Kaspersky. I had trouble installing it on this computer. (I was "going up" from Internet Security to Pure 2.0 but don't know whether that matters.) I thought that I had Kaspersky removed by KAVremover and tried to install it but always was told that it was already on my system. I sent Kaspersky Removal Tool (KAVremover.exe) out to remove Kaspersky. Then I restarted. Then I repeated the process. I even had someone who knows something about computers try with no more success than I had.
When I wrote to Kaspersky they wrote back that Clam AV had no removal tool and that therefore I might not have managed to remove all of ClamWin. I don't understand why that would affect Kaspersky's own removal tool removing its own software, but I am not a programmer.
Would a Clam Removal Tool or a ClamWin Removal Tool do a better job of removal than merely having Windows remove the program?
Below the three hyphens is some of the correspondence I had with them with my name/e-mail removed and replaced with my Username here. I also replaced the case number with Xs.

Hello GuardRaven59,
Clam AV may be very difficult to remove, and the company does not provide a free removal tool to uninstall their products fully. Even using the windows uninstall method, it often leaves behind files and registry entries on your PC that can cause problems in the future.

I think Kaspersky is shooting you some bull. Some commercial AVs need a special uninstall tool. I understand that Kaspersky hooks the system like some rootkits. ClamWin does not hook the system like most commercial AVs, so there should not be any problem removing it via the ClamWin uninstall program or via the usual Windows uninstall via Control Panel, Programs.
Regards,
