Hello, I've discovered an awkward flaw in the post-virus scan report that's displayed on screen and optionally saved to disk. If there are too many lines in the report (say, if there are a lot of files skipped due to being encrypted), part of the report is unable to be viewed, and does not appear in the saved report either. Only the last n lines are viewable/saveable, where n is some number that is large enough that I don't particularly want to try counting it, but it is a low enough number to make my reports fairly useless. My recent scan found several infected files, but they were all listed near the beginning of the scan, so they were omitted from the saved report... which was frustrating, because I obviously wanted to investigate the infected files.
Fortunately, I found that there is a "running log" report available, showing everything ClamWin has *ever* scanned and found. In case anyone else is finding this problem, this file location is listed in Tools -> Preferences -> Reports tab -> Scan Report File field (which in my default setup, pointed to C:\ProgramData\.clamwin\log\ClamScanLog.txt). Within this file, I found it useful to navigate by searching for "Scan Started" and "Scan Summary" to get to the places of interest.
I hadn't noticed this report flaw in previous scans because I wasn't bothering to investigate in detail when the number of infected files was zero. But now that I am on a virus-removal mission, I couldn't help but trip over the problem, and then I felt obliged to report my difficulties.
(It is worth noting that this is not a new problem: all of my scan reports, from my first on 2011-01-01, have been afflicted by this. I'm sorry if it has been noted on these forums already; I had tried to search for appropriate keywords, but after a few attempts and a few warnings about performing too many searches, I gave up.)

I wonder if it would help to change the ClamWin default log limit size (in Advanced Preferrences) from the current 1 megabyte size to something larger--say 5 MB.

Aha! That's actually what I was looking for, but I got distracted when I found the full log location and what I thought was the solution to my problem. I've increased the log limit size and will be scanning again soon (to see that I've successfully cleared out the viruses) and I expect my problem will *really* be fixed by this.
Thank you!

I hope that solves your problem. Also, right after a manual scan, you get the opportunity to save a log of that one scan anywhere you want--in addition to the entry in the regular cumulative scan log.
Thanks for using ClamWin!

I just wanted to confirm that your solution helped: I was finally able to view the full report in the summary window, and of course I could then save it as well -- which I had already known, but saving it when it was incomplete was not very helpful! I am grateful for your quick helpfulness.
I'm wondering, though: does the log limit size really default to such a low number? If so, perhaps it should be raised, since my system isn't too weird, I don't think.

A scan with no problems has a log size of about 1 KB, so a 1 MB default log size default will handle about 1,000 normal scans, which is pretty large. Nevertheless, you can set the scan log to whatever size you want. I'm usually more interested in what goes into quarantine than anything else.
By the way, you might be interested into the Clam Sentinel real-time front-end program for ClamWin. Clam Sentinel is a separate free. open source project that lets you scan in real-time with ClamWin as files are added, copied, or modified on your computer. Clam Sentinel also has its own heuristic scanner to detect malware for which there is no ClamWin signature. Clam Sentinel is available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. Clam Sentinel has a default size of 5 MB for its logs.
