If ClamWin can detect a virus in a file, it can either report, remove, or quarantine the file. The default option for infected files is quarantine, and that is usually the best/safest option because if the detection is erroneous, you can restore the file from quarantine via the Quarantine Browser program (start, all programs, ClamWin, quarantine browser). You can change the default via the ClamWin configuration options, general preferences via the ClamWin icon in your system tray.

To verify if a file is really infected and not a "false positive" erroneous detection, upload the file to Jotti or Virus Total, where they will scan it with multiple AV programs, including the Clam AV engine used by ClamWin. If several other AVs see an infection, it is probably not a "false positive" detection. "False positive" detections do not happen that often, as ClamWin detections are usually real. If you have a false positive detection, upload the file to Clam AV at the Clam AV web site, and they will correct the signature in a few days. ClamWin will get the corrected signature. You can restore the file from quarantine then.
