First, Thank you for a real Open Source choice for Malware protection!

I run ClamWin on XP. Do a full scan often.

No operational warnings are posted.

However I do get a bunch infected file entries in the reports.

Many seem reasonable XP files.

How do I see the Virus identification data of each of these?

Would be glad to send the log for analysis.

Enjoy

Jim

ClamWin gets some Virus false positive detections on Microsoft files (Office and sometimes others). A Virut detection on an Office file that has not been changed is probably a false positive. To check whether or not a file is infected, upload it to Jotti or Virus Total. Either service will scan your file for free with multiple AVs. If several other AVs besides our Clam AV engine say a file is infected, it is probably a real infection and not a false positive. Jotti is at https://virusscan.jotti.org/en and Virus Total is at https://www.virustotal.com/ on the web. If 2 of these AV see an infection, I usually believe it: Avira Antivir, Bitdefender, Nod32, Kaspersky or Sophos.

If you have a false positive, please upload the file to Clam AV at https://www.clamav.net/lang/en/sendvirus/ on the web. Be sure to select the false positive designation. Clam will change their signature for the virus in a couple of days. In the meantime, you can whitelist the file in ClamWin's filters configuration tab.

Most viruses will be found in the Windows System 32 or Users/Documents and Settings folders. Check into the Clam Sentinel program at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. It is free, and it lets you scan with ClamWin as files are placed on your computer. ClamWin must be installed before you can use Sentinel. Read the Simple Guide before using it. Version 1.19 (hopefully out soon) is going to be nice!

Regards,
