I've set up ClamWin 0.97.2 on a Windows Server 2008 in a small office, behind a generic broadband router firewall. This server also has Trend Micro AV. I have a few questions:

1. Would ClamWin interfere with Trend Micro or vice-versa?

2. Any suggestions for a better security combo without buying expensive SW?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Trend Micro will provide good, protection in real-time. ClamWin will provide you with some extra protection and it only scans on demand/schedule, so does not consume excess computer resources. Just exclude ClamWin's program and data directories from Avast's scans and the clamWin temp files (clamav-*) to keep Trend Micro from triggering on a ClamWin signature once-in-a-while. Do a daily scan with ClamWin on the System 32 and user/documents and settings directories, where many viruses hang out.

No AV is perfect,but the major AVs do a pretty good job if you keep them updated. Make sure to do your Windows patches each month and keep your browsers and other major software updated as well. Use an alternative to Adobe PDF (Sumatra, etc.), and turn off Javascript if at all possible (it's hard to do without sometimes).
