When a complete scan is don I find several similiar messages such as
WARNING: can't open the file C:\WINNT\system32\config\default Permission denied
WARNING: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\software: Permission denied
WARNING: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\system: Permission denied
I checked the permissions on some of these files and don't see any obvious reason that they can't be examined.
Any insight or suggestions?
I'm Using Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

I did a search on Google for
"C:\WINNT\system32\config\default Permission denied" (no quote marks used) and ran across this at https://ftp.clamwin.com/viewtopic.php?t=2484 on the ClamWin forum. Perhaps it might help.
Have you ever seen a permission denied on these files previously? Are they current files, or have they been on your computer for a while?
You might get into Windows Safe Mode (enable networking) and then see if you have control of the files so you can check them on Jotti or Virus Total.
