Well... I seem to be the only one who cares for this so... if anyone reads this and agrees please create a new topic referring this thread and also please post a reply here stating that you do agree and refer to your new topic and maybe finally, someone in charge will care to answer

Well i do agree that it would be nice to have info like this. I guess the problem is that we don't really have a time schedule for the development, as we work on it when we have the time.
Maybe we could post a sticky saying what is worked on and by whom ? Just a thought though. |

Nice to see that someone actually read my post
![]() I think the idea with a sticky post is great. Also I do understand that the work is not being done on a schedule, but still what I would like to see: "Is development being done on such-and-such item" - This should be a real easy one to post "What is the status i.e. how much is done vs. how much is left, what is missing, any problems need solving etc." - Even without a schedule, this kind of info should not be difficult to supply "Is help appreciated and if so, what kind" - Same goes for this one "Is the item scheduled for any specific date or release or otherwise expected to be available in the foreseeable future" - Okay so you can't specify a date ... still you should be able to state something like "not for the next two months or so" or "if nothing unexpected happens, within a week" ... and I'm sure we all understand that shit happens and noone is gonna hold you to it, it's just that it's nice to have some idea of how things are progressing, especially if one is really in need of some specific update ... Thanks, |

Hello:
What you are talking about is formal project reporting. I'm sure the project manager is doing something along this line for his own information. If not, then he should be. They need a way to formalize this--perhaps a Web page that all project participants could access and update for their status with projections, comments, problems, etc. If the project manager doesn't have time to do this, perhaps he could provide regular status updates to someone who does--like you. They really need it, I believe. Some would say it might take the fun out of the project, but I think it might help make it a little more formal and more professional. As a result, more might get done faster. I think this would be a good project management change. However, I think this will have to come from the project manager. Regards, |
