I am using ClamAV in my kubuntu 10.10. The problem is that when I am inserting an external pendrive to my system and scan it , it is detecting theviruses and is moving the viruses to the quarentine but the viruses still present in the pendrive. If I scan it again it detects the viruses again. How to solve any idea ?
thanks Evil or Very Mad

I suggest to try official clamav mailing list for problems on linux

I don't think that the operating system would make a difference as far as the removal of viruses is concerned.

I know I've had similar problems with external media in the past when it came to removing viruses or trojans. The best way to go about it is reformat the pen disk or drive. That has always worked for me.

Hope it works for you too!

Reformatting is the sure way to remove, but removal of the file in the pendrive may not work if the virus is located on the computer. I suggest booting up with one of the Linux rescue disk from a major AV company. I like F-Secure and Kaspersky, but AVG, Dr. Web and Virus Blok Ada also have one. Rut it on a computer with DSL hooked up, and be sure it can update before scanning
