Hello Forum,

maybe Iīm the only one that needs a real time virus scanner, but I think in nowadays itīs not enough to scan only after a schedule paln every week or so.

Nearly everyone goes into the internet when he or she switches on the PC.

So you can get a lot of viruses and spyware from there.

Iīm not feeling fine when my virus scanner can not inform me about new virus attacks right now.

What do you think?

The average internet user certainly does need a real-time scanner. In fact, it is not a bad idea to have a backup on-demand scanner with your real-time scanner, and it is recommended that ClamWin be used as as a backup scanner.

You can use ClamWin as a real-time scanner by employing the free Clam Sentinel program available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. Sentinel is a small program written in Delphi that uses the ClamWin scan engine to inspect files as they are added, modified, or copied on your computer. In addition, Sentinel has its own heuristic system monitor that can detect malware for which ClamWin does not yet have a signature. Sentinel uses the ClamWin quarantine folder, and it can be easily configured from the Windows system tray.

Sentinel is a separate project not related to ClamWin, but the author ties to coordinate with the ClamWin developers. Sentinel and ClamWin make a pretty good combination for users who are reasonably careful about where they surf and watch what they click on the web.

Regards,

Hi GuitarBob,

this is a very good message.
I didnīt know about Sentinel.
I guess that a lot of other ClamWin Users didnīt know about this product, too.

I think that an integrated real-time scanner in ClamWin, will boost the popularity of ClamWin.

Also in PC Magazin Test, they all talk about what features a Virus Scanner has which not.

To be compatible with other commercial scanners, I guess that it is a must to protect the normal "unknown" PC users with real-time scanner.

I think that when ClamWin integrates Sentinel, ClamWin will get a lot more attention from PC Magazines, because they will compare the commercial products with an open source system (like Ms Office with Open Office Wink ).

So the attention in the press will increase the users of ClamWin and of cause the community.

I guess this will be a big step forward for all.

Best regards,

Rene

Hellow, Ive found this project at SourceForge.net and I think that this project is DISCONTINUED, here is their website https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamrt/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamrt/ I hope that this can help the ClamWin to create the ClamWin Real-Time Scanner, but I cannot compile the source code because there are some errors Sad I hope that this helped the ClamWin Real-Time... Smile
