Version 1.15 of Clam Sentinel has been released today. Clam Sentinel enables ClamWin users to scan in real-time with ClamWin. In addition to scanning with ClamWin, Sentinel has its own heuristic system monitor to detect new Windows malware for which ClamWin does not yet have a signature and warns of suspicious system changes. Sentinel uses the ClamWin quarantine folder. The new version supports English, French, German, Italian, and Japanese languages, adds support for scanning unicode files, features decreased false positive detection on suspicious origin files, and enables the user to disable suspicious warnings while still detecting new malware.

Clam Sentinel is a separate project from ClamWin, and it is available for free at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. ClamWin must be installed before Sentinel. Read the Simple Guide before using Sentinel.

Hi Bob,

Can you please remember me again. do I need to do anything to Clam Sentinel or was that fixed?

By the way, I have KernelEx installed, which lets me use software such as Flash 10 and also the latest Firefox 3.6.15, so will I need to disable KernelEx before I install both ClamWin and the Sentinel?

I think you should be okay installing ClamWin and Clam Sentinel with that KernelEx. As for installation problems, I have not heard of anything significant with the new version .97 of ClamWin. You can download Clam Sentinel from https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web.

Hi friends,

First post!

I am seeing on the https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ page that this program does not include Windows 2003. I have a server under Windows 2003 with Clam Win on it and need this real-time scan. Will it NOT work on 2003? If no are there any plans for it to work on this system?

thanks,

I am not sure, but I think Clam Sentinel will work okay under 2003. Try it and see and let the author, Andrea Russo of Italy, know of any problems. SEntinel has not been tested much on servers, as it was originally only designed for a personal Windows 98 computer and was expanded to XP/Vista/Windows 7 as it appeared that no great effort was involved to do so. It appears that future editions will be a bit more accomodating to the server environment.

I'd be extremely surprised if it didn't work with Windows Server 2003 since it works with Windows Server 2000, XP, Vista and Win7. I've used it on all of them Smile .

I have KernelEx on my Win98 SE machine and I've never needed to disable it to install/run Clam Sentinel Smile .
