Andrea Russo, the Clam Sentinel author says that he has alwas used the incremental update for ClamWin and it works fine for him. He also says 512K is too small to run ClamWin -did you mean to say 512K or 512MB?). He has 1GB memory on his Win 98 machine, which works fine. Memory should not be a problem with installation, but more memory is needed to run ClamWin because the database must be loated in memory for every scan.

The incremental update just has the changes from the previous version. I think you can get the incremental update for version .96.5 at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/files/clamwin/0.96.5/clamwin-0.96.5-setup-nodb.exe/download on the web.

With 512Mb on Win98SE ClamWin works without problems (if you have at least a processor with 500Mhz). aru |

Howdy Clam Clan,
I'm running w98se on a P2 266mhz with 160megs of ram. I've loaded clamwin .95. Everything seems to work. I've run the scan a couple of times. But I'm thinking twice about upgrading to v .97 as the above conversation implies more horsepower required. On a tangent, the scan shows one badboy - trojan. gummy.bytverify FOUND- and the default setting is to report not quarantine. Probably there's a good reason for that ![]() bennyb |

There have been some false positives with older versions lately, as the new version .97 has some enhanced signatures that the older versions just can't interpret properly. That itself is a good reason to bump up your RAM and upgrade, if at all possible.
