ClamWin in a domain/corporate network environment?

Hey guys,

I own a technical support and consulting business, primarily providing network and computer maintenance which involves (among many other things) antivirus scanning.

I recently discovered ClamWin and would love to use it with my customers as it is GPL and requires no purchase (I.E. I can include it in my maintenance service). I would like to know any problems, bugs, etc. that any of you might have experienced while using ClamWin in a corporate/Windows domain environment. I need to do my research before I install onto my customers' networks. Wink

Thank you all for any insight, hints, and/or suggestions. =)

the main problem is the lack of real-time on-acesss scanning in the current clamwin version

No worries - no need for one in my current requirements! =) It's actually nice to have a simple, 'portable' AV solution. It's a great tool for any network tech/sysadmin, especially when you've already got a virus and need to clean it off while the infected drive is offline (ever think of doing a BartPE plugin? It could replace the horrible McAfee plugin..ugh) Wink

Thanks for making a great product! I'm adding it to my long list of great GPL tools. I think I heard about the on-access scanner being a future component - if that's the case, I can't wait. Maybe if people help (donations, etc people!!) enough we could even get a network-centric version like AVG Network Edition, where you can control aspects of the antivirus software on a network of workstations from a central admin console (something I'd love to see also in CCleaner) as well as schedule scans / run on-access scans / set user privs (like user cannot exit, user cannot abort scans, etc.) without having to physically be in front of the system.

You guys rock! Keep up the good work and expect donations from me!

You guys *$&#ing ROCK! =)

Hey I hate to ask this here because I'm sure it's documented somewhere (I just can't find it).. With the PE plugin, can you do definition updates, or do they have to be burned onto the CD? This is something I always hated with the McAfee plugin, as you keep wasting CDs/time burning them just to update something that could easily be loaded into the ramdisk... Thanks again!
