I just downloaded the newest anti-virus and openned the instlation. Prior to that I went on-line. The instalation tried to contact a server, but kept stating that contact could not be established. As a result I could not install the new anti-virus. Can anyone help me out??

if you use a proxy server then it needs to be specified in clamwin settings.

Otherwise please paste the dataabase update log here

I am having the same problem with 0.88.2.3. It also prevents me re-installing an older version (0.88.2.1).

Did anyone get back to you about this issue ?

The server (66.35.250.221) responds ftp requests but is reluctant to let me download anything if I try to use anonymous ftp to get the zip files.
The server does not apear to respond to http requests on port 80.

I would like to upgrade as this is what clamwin askes me to do but without someone fixing the server it is not going to happen.

I have narrowed down the problem to somthing on the server preventing the source from being downloaded. After disabling the source download, I was able to install the new version of clamwin.

I have emailed micklweiss via sourceforge.net with more details on what I tried (without sucsess) in order to get the source code.

one of the sourceforge mirrors (https://osdn.dl.sourceforge.net/) is down. I hope it will resolve itself otherwse we'll have to use another mirror in the next release

Is ther a setup command line option to change the mirror. If not, can it be added in to the next release ? The current documentation does not have much to say about any setup command line options.

There is no need for such an option. The download of source code during the installation is not necessary for the correct functioning of clamwin. It is only needed for the deelopers interested in building clamwin from sources. You can always choose a mirror in sourceforge download page.

I have had several tries to update to the latestversion, trying with and without the proxy server being ticked. When it tries to download latest Data Base Files I get the error message - Error sending request Server returned invalid or unrecognised response.
I had the same trouble with an earlier version, but eventually it worked.

Is this the exact error message ? I tried looking it up in the code to see what was wrong, but can't find it.

Yes that is the error message, but the title of the box is File Download.
I have just done a virus database update from the icon in my system tray. OK
Downloaded 0.88.2.3 again and tried to install. Turned off all my security programs but left the connection to the internet. Recognised previous installation. I use Mozilla as my web browser and email. I'm not sure whether Clamwin uses a proxy server or not. Have tried ticked and unticked. Got the error message again when trying to download files.

Have you tried to completely remove the previous version before installing the new one ? In that case (i believe) it will use default settings in stead of your old settings.
I have searched both ClamWin and ClamAV source trees for the string "sending request", but can't find it.
Alch could probably help you better on this one, but he won't be on the forum for some time.
