I have the free version of Clamwin, my tech rep downloaded it when he was tuning my puter, can I also download the free AVG or will they bump heads, I would scan then one at a time but they both would be downloaded in my puter.

AVG is a real-time/on-access scanner which scans files as they are accessed on your computer. ClamWin is an on-demand scanner--it does not scan in real-time: it only scans when you demand a scan via a manual scan or a scheduled scan. So you will not have two scanners both working in real-time, which can cause conflicts.
If you want to use ClamWin as a backup antivirus (AVG is a good antivirus by itself), I suggest you configure AVG to exclude the ClamWin Quarantine and Signature Database folders from its scans and exclude the AVG Quarantine and Signature Database folders from ClamWin scans. Also exclude *.clamtmp files from AVG scans. I never had any problem when I used AVG and ClamWin together. If resource use seems high when you make a ClamWin manual scan, you might want to turn off AVG's real-time scanner.
When I used AVG back in 2006-2007, I noticed that it did not unzip files very well. ClamWin does a very good job of unzipping, however, so on several occasions ClamWin unzipped a file with a virus that it had no signature for, but AVG's real-time scanner kicked in and was able to recognize the virus in the unzipped ClamWin temporary file! I am sure AVG has better unzipping nowadays, however.
