Hello guys,
I am using Windows 7 64 Bit and my system was protected by Microsoft Security Essentials and Threatfire. Now I am trying to the following combination instead:
- Clamwin and Spyware Terminator as On demand scanner
- Clam Sentinel, Spyware Terminator and ClamAV for Windows by Immunet for realtime protection
- attachscan (using Clamwin for scanning attachments) for Thunderbird
- Fireclam (using Clamwin for scanning downloads) for Firefox
The combination is working fine so far and I want to know your thoughts about this. Do you guys think this is a good idea or do you expect any problems? Do I have a lack of protection anywhere?
Thanks and regards

Well, here's my opinion. I think you had a pretty good combination with Security Essentials and Threatfire. You now have quite a few security programs, so watch that resource usage via Taskmanager to make sure you are not using too much.
Spyware Terminator comes with a realtime version of Clam AV, so I don't think you need to use ClamWin and Sentinel with it. Sentinel presently only offers basic realtime protection--as files are put on your computer, modified, or copied. It is always being improved, however.
Immunet presently offers protection only for Windows executables. It doesn't protect PDF files and other non-Windows PE stuff. It has not been regarded too well in a couple of reviews I have read, but I'm sure the next version should be better. For free cloud protection right now, I would get the Panda cloud thingee, which should be way ahead of Imunet.
Personally, I would go back to Security Essentials, keep the Firefox stuff, and add WinPatrol (a free lighter-weight Security monitor than Threatfire) to the mix. For drive-by download protection, look into Zscaler for Firefox at https://www.v3.co.uk/v3/news/2267734/zscaler-gives-firefox-users on the web. Zscaler may come out for IE if the Firefox version works out okay.
