I would like to suggest "Clawin" to Please introduce Future Calmwin as a Full Internet Security Software for us. I mean Add Firewall features and Network attacker block etc features for Future Calmwin Versions. Because when we use Calmwin we have to separately installed another Firewall etc, so its very inconvenient for us.

I do not believe you will see very many additional security features in a future ClamWin, other than some additional virus detection capabilities. Those capabilities cost time and money and need a group of people to develop. ClamWin is developed on a part-time basis by two people in their free time without a big budget. An all-in-one security program with AV, firewall, and other web protection features is best left to the commercial companies.

I prefer to use separate programs for AV, firewall, antispyware, intrusion detection, and antirootkit protection. Separate programs are not as bloated as one large "suite", and one or more of my program might not be killed by malware at the same time. Also, the AV companies often buy other companies to get additional features into their product and just graft the new features onto their AV without much thought or testing. Right now some of them are having trouble detecting the new malware, so they are on agressive buying campaigns for additional capabilies.

You might look at the Clam Sentinel program, which is available for free at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. It is small in size and adds basic real-time scanning, with USB protection, to ClamWin. It has been available since last October, and it is being improved regularly.

Personally, I like ClamWin just as it is. There are so very many free firewalls, registry and file protectors, intrusion detection systems, DLL blockes, yet ClamWin serves its purpose as a very good AV/AM scanner. We all know the horrid stories of realtime protection failures, and these failures are predicted to increase to the point that realtime AV/AM protection shall become useless. The new rules for us are: Find the new forms free software replacing AV/AM realtime; Learn to use it; Use the scanners to remove the unwanted leftovers. I see no point in MBAM realtime, Norton realtime, or any other realtime when ALL the reports show the strength of an AV/AM in REMOVAL ONLY. Complete PC protection consists in ClamWin, AVZ, DSA, SSM, KPF, and on. These are light, and support Win 95 32 bit to Win 7 and OIV 4.0.1, as well as many other systems. The ClamAV and ClamWin authors and developers are overtasked already and ask nothing in return for their software, asking more of these people, borders on cruelty in my opinion.

Yes, AV protection is getting ridiculous, isn't it? If users exercised more common sense, the AVs would not have to be so complicated/bloated. The latest idea is to put the AV (partially, at least) in the cloud to speed up signature submission, preparation, and pushdown to the user. Clam AV and Imunet have partnered up for Clam AV for Windows, but it is somewhat lacking in detection at present. I still prefer to have complete control over my own software.

ClamSentinel belongs in your list also. It was originally designed for Win 98 machines but also works well on 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7. It is about 600K in size and adds basic, non-kernel, real-time protection to ClamWin users, including USB protection. It is very simple and works in the system tray and has come a long way since it first came out in October 2009. I predict it will go even further.

WinPatrol is another gem. A free version has always been available and will be as long as Bill Pitlovany has it. The new version lets the user protect named programs.

Realtime AV/AM protection is a bloated false sense of security, as it has proved itself to be. A bit of good news for 9x users is the KernelEX project which allows 9x users to modify SAFELY their kernels as to be able to run many NT/200x/XP/Vista/7 programs, especially those lovely light HIPS and lockdown apps foreign to most 9x users until now. This allows 9x users to take fuller advantage of WinPatrol as well as ClamAV and ClamWin, e.g. Still a BETA but well worth it in my opinion. Back up the registry, load an XP app, give it a try. A simple registry restore is all one needs if unsatisfied for some reason, that and deletion of a few files no longer needed. The author really did a great deal to improve 9x performance as well.
